The Holy Spirit can be described as a person as well as power. There is a reference in the bible that can support both sides. It can be described as a person because it is identified as one of the three persons who make up the Godhead, with the Father and the Son being the other two. In John 16, verses seven and eight Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as he was talking about a person. He stated. “But if I do go away, then I will send him to you. And when he comes he will prove to the people of the world that they are wrong.” On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was described as a power. “Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing and it filled the whole house where they were sitting” Acts 2:2. While the Holy Spirit is often described as a dove, however, the underlying doctrine that it remains one of the beings of the trinity would classify him as a person rather than just a mere power.

An ontological argument states the existence of God through forms of cognitive reasoning rather than tangible sources such as observation of the world. Many ontological arguments base their views on the being of God and existence while others argue about the concepts or possibilities that lead to existence. St Anselm is noted for proposing the first and best known ontological argument. There are different kinds of ontological arguments such as definitional, modal, and experiential.
